Terms of Service
The short version (the full terms below are what count)
- We launch working web apps: deploy, domain, Stripe, auth and secrets checks, analytics, SEO basics and launch posts. We don't build new features or rewrite apps.
- Launch Kit: live within 48 hours of getting the access we need. If we accept your Launch Kit and can't get it live within scope, you get a full refund.
- Your £39 Launch Check is credited against a Launch Kit.
- AI agents do the work and a human reviews every change before it goes live.
- You keep ownership of your code, accounts and data. We use least-privilege access and never ask for passwords.
- If you're a consumer you have a 14-day right to cancel. If you ask us to start straight away, you lose it once the service is complete.
1. About us and these terms
1.1 Ship Weekend is a trading name of [Company legal name], a company registered in [England and Wales] under company number [Company number], registered office [Registered address], VAT number [VAT number, if registered] ("we", "us"). Contact: [Contact email].
1.2 These terms apply to every order you place with us at shipweekend.com. Please read them before ordering. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal data.
1.3 Some terms apply differently depending on whether you are a consumer (an individual acting mainly outside your trade, business, craft or profession) or a business customer. Where that matters, we say so.
2. Definitions
- App: the web application you ask us to work on, including its code, configuration and connected services.
- Access: invitations, restricted API keys, tokens or settings you provide so we can perform the Services.
- Services: the Launch Check, Launch Kit and/or Keep-Live plan you order, as described in section 3 and on our website at the time of your order.
- Deliverables: what we hand to you: reports, code changes (as pull requests), configuration, copy and launch post drafts.
- Scope: the work included in your plan, as set out in sections 3 and 7.
3. Our services and prices
3.1 Launch Check (£39, one-off). An automated launch-readiness review of your repository or live URL covering secrets in code, authentication and database access rules, Stripe test/live configuration and webhooks, domain and SSL, basic SEO and analytics, delivered as a written, prioritised fix list.
3.2 Launch Kit (£349, one-off). Everything in the Launch Check plus: fixing launch blockers within Scope (delivered as a pull request), deployment to Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare Pages on your account, connecting your custom domain and SSL, configuring Stripe live mode, checkout and webhooks on your Stripe account, adding analytics, a sitemap, meta tags and an Open Graph image, writing landing page copy and launch post drafts for X, Reddit and Product Hunt, and a handover report with an access list.
3.3 Keep-Live (£49 per month). Uptime and error monitoring, dependency and security updates, small fixes (up to [2 hours] of work per month), a monthly health report and one growth or SEO post draft per month, for an App we have launched or checked.
3.4 Prices are in pounds sterling and [include VAT / exclude VAT, which is added at checkout where applicable]. Third-party costs such as hosting, domain registration, Stripe fees and paid tools are not included. You pay those providers directly, in your own name.
4. Ordering and acceptance
4.1 You order by paying through our Stripe checkout. The contract between us starts when we email you an order confirmation.
4.2 Launch Kit review. After you order a Launch Kit we review your App, usually within [1 business day]. If it needs work outside Scope (for example, it doesn't run, needs major features built or a rewrite), we may decline the order and give you a full refund, or offer to deliver a Launch Check instead (with the difference refunded) if you agree. We "accept" a Launch Kit when we email you to confirm we're going ahead.
4.3 We may refuse any order that breaches section 19 (Acceptable use).
5. Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- (a) give us accurate information about your App and respond to our questions promptly;
- (b) provide the Access we reasonably ask for. Our timing commitments only start once we have it (section 9);
- (c) own, or have the right to let us use and change, the App's code, content and connected accounts;
- (d) hold the hosting, domain, Stripe and other accounts in your own name and keep them in good standing, including any identity checks or approvals your providers require (for example Stripe account verification);
- (e) keep your own backup of your code and data before we start. We work through pull requests and version control, but you are responsible for your backups;
- (f) review and merge our pull requests and approve changes where we ask you to;
- (g) make sure your App, its content and its business comply with the law, including consumer, data protection and payment-provider rules, and that it has its own privacy notice and terms where needed.
6. Access, keys and credentials
6.1 Least privilege. We'll ask for the narrowest access that works, such as an invitation to one repository, a restricted Stripe API key with only the permissions we need, and a team invite on your hosting platform. We never ask for passwords, and you must not send them. If you send credentials we didn't ask for, we may delete them and ask for restricted access instead.
6.2 How we handle Access. We store keys and tokens encrypted, separate from code and messages. We use Access only to perform the Services, put secrets your App needs into your hosting provider's environment variables (never into your repository), and limit Access to the people and systems delivering your order.
6.3 Handover and revocation. When we finish, we send you a list of every Access we used. You should revoke or rotate it once you're happy. We delete stored keys within [7] days of completion, or when Keep-Live ends.
6.4 Security incidents. If we become aware that Access you gave us has been compromised while in our care, we'll tell you without undue delay and help you rotate it.
6.5 You remain responsible for your accounts and for activity that happens through them other than activity caused by our breach of these terms.
7. Scope and what's not included
7.1 Our Services take an App that already works and get it live. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, Scope does not include:
- building new features, new pages or new integrations beyond those listed in section 3;
- redesigns, rewrites, or migrating to a different framework;
- native iOS or Android apps, app store submissions, desktop apps or browser extensions;
- complex backends, such as queues, background workers, multi-service or microservice systems, or self-managed servers;
- apps that are not in a Git repository we can access;
- legal, tax or regulatory advice (including writing your App's legal documents), penetration testing or formal security certification;
- guaranteeing traffic, users, sales, search rankings or launch results;
- posting launch content on your behalf. We draft it and you post it.
7.2 If we find work outside Scope, we'll tell you. We can quote for it separately, or you can do it yourself; we won't charge for out-of-Scope work without your agreement.
7.3 Our checks are a launch-readiness review, not a guarantee that your App is free of bugs or security vulnerabilities. We use reasonable care and skill, but we can't promise to find every issue.
8. How we deliver: AI agents and human review
8.1 Our Services are performed largely by AI agents. A member of our team reviews every change to your code, configuration or payment setup before it goes live, and nothing touches your production payments without a human check.
8.2 We may use carefully selected subcontractors and AI model providers (listed in our Privacy Policy) to deliver the Services. We remain responsible for their work under these terms.
9. Delivery, timing and handover
9.1 Launch Kit: we'll get your App live within 48 hours of receiving all the Access and information we asked for in our onboarding checklist. The clock pauses while we're waiting on you (for example a pull request to merge, DNS changes at your registrar, or a Stripe verification step) and for delays caused by third-party services.
9.2 Launch Check: delivered within [24 hours] of receiving your repository or URL.
9.3 "Live" means your App is deployed and reachable on your custom domain over HTTPS and, if Scope includes payments, can complete a Stripe checkout in live mode (subject to your Stripe account being activated by Stripe).
9.4 Fixes after handover. If something we delivered doesn't work as described, tell us within [14] days of handover and we'll fix it at no extra cost. This doesn't cover changes made after handover by you or anyone else, or problems with third-party services.
10. Refunds and our launch promise
10.1 Launch promise. If we accept your Launch Kit (section 4.2) and cannot get your App live within Scope, we'll give you a full refund of the Launch Kit price.
10.2 The launch promise doesn't apply where we couldn't go live because you didn't provide Access or information we reasonably requested within [14] days of our asking, because you asked us to stop, because of changes you made during the work, or because a third party (for example Stripe, a registrar or your host) refused or suspended your account. In those cases we may keep a fair amount for work already done, and we'll refund the rest.
10.3 Launch Check credit. The £39 you paid for a Launch Check is credited in full against a Launch Kit for the same App[ if ordered within 60 days].
10.4 Refunds go back to your original payment method, normally within 14 days of us agreeing the refund.
10.5 These promises are in addition to your legal rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if you're a consumer.
11. Your right to cancel (consumers)
11.1 If you are a consumer, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel within 14 days of the day after the contract starts, without giving a reason.
11.2 Starting within the 14 days. Our Services are designed to be delivered quickly, so we can only start within the cancellation period if you expressly ask us to at checkout and acknowledge that:
- (a) if you cancel after we have started but before the Service is complete, you must pay a proportionate amount for the work done up to the time you tell us you're cancelling; and
- (b) you will lose your right to cancel once the Service has been fully performed. For example, once your Launch Check report has been delivered or your Launch Kit handover is complete.
11.3 If you don't ask us to start straight away, we'll wait until the 14-day cancellation period ends before we begin.
11.4 To cancel, tell us clearly, for example by email to [Contact email]. You can use the model cancellation form below but don't have to. We'll refund what's due within 14 days of being told you're cancelling, using your original payment method.
11.5 Losing the statutory right to cancel doesn't affect our launch promise (section 10) or your other legal rights.
11.6 These cancellation rights don't apply to business customers.
12. Keep-Live subscription
12.1 Keep-Live is billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renews automatically each month until cancelled.
12.2 You can cancel any time through the customer portal link in your receipts or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing month, and we don't refund part months except where the law requires (for example, under section 11 within the first 14 days).
12.3 Unused monthly fix time doesn't roll over. Bigger jobs are quoted separately.
12.4 We can change the Keep-Live price or features by giving you at least 30 days' notice by email. If you don't want to continue, you can cancel before the change takes effect.
12.5 We may end Keep-Live with 30 days' notice, or immediately under section 20.
13. Payment
13.1 Payments are processed by Stripe. We don't receive or store your full card details. Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to your payment.
13.2 If a Keep-Live payment fails, we'll let you know and may pause the service until it's paid.
14. Ownership and intellectual property
14.1 You own your App. We don't acquire any rights in your code, content, data, domain or accounts, except a limited licence to use them to perform the Services.
14.2 Deliverables. Once you've paid, you own the code changes, configuration, copy and launch drafts we create specifically for you, and may use them however you like.
14.3 Our tools. We keep all rights in our own tools, agents, prompts, checklists, templates and know-how. Where any of these are included in your Deliverables, you get a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use them as part of your App.
14.4 Case studies. We'll only name you or your App publicly, or publish a case study, with your permission.
15. Confidentiality
We'll keep your code, Access, business information and anything you mark as confidential secret, use it only to deliver the Services, and share it only with people and providers who need it for that purpose and are bound by confidentiality. This doesn't apply to information that is public, already known to us, or that we must disclose by law.
16. Data protection
16.1 Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data as a controller.
16.2 Data in your App. Where we process personal data about your App's users on your behalf, you are the controller and we are your processor, and we will, in line with Article 28 UK GDPR:
- (a) process it only on your documented instructions (these terms and your order are those instructions), unless the law requires otherwise;
- (b) ensure anyone processing it is bound by confidentiality;
- (c) apply appropriate technical and organisational security measures;
- (d) use sub-processors only as listed in our Privacy Policy, under written terms giving equivalent protection, and tell you of changes so you can object;
- (e) help you, where reasonable, with data subject requests, security, breach notifications and impact assessments;
- (f) notify you without undue delay after becoming aware of a personal data breach affecting that data;
- (g) delete or return that data at the end of the Services, unless the law requires us to keep it; and
- (h) make available the information needed to show we comply with this section.
16.3 We'll access your App's personal data only where it's necessary for the Services, and we'll avoid copying production user data wherever we can.
17. Third-party services
Your App relies on services we don't control, such as hosting platforms, domain registrars, Stripe, Supabase and AI coding tools. Their terms, fees, outages, policy decisions and account approvals are outside our control, and we're not responsible for them, though we'll help where we reasonably can.
18. Our liability to you
18.1 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law. That includes, for consumers, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that services are performed with reasonable care and skill and as described.
18.2 If you're a consumer: we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable. Because our Services help launch apps, which are often business projects, we're not liable to consumers for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
18.3 If you're a business customer:
- (a) we're not liable for any loss of profits, revenue, sales, business, goodwill or anticipated savings, or for any indirect or consequential loss;
- (b) our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, is limited to the total fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; and
- (c) all terms implied by law are excluded to the fullest extent allowed, except those implied by section 12 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 or section 2 of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982.
18.4 For everyone, and to the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for loss caused by: your failure to keep backups; changes made to your App or accounts by you or others after handover or outside our work; your failure to revoke Access after handover; third-party services (section 17); information you gave us that was inaccurate; or events beyond our reasonable control.
19. Acceptable use
We won't work on, and you must not ask us to launch, an App that is unlawful, infringes others' rights, distributes malware, is designed to scam, defraud or harass people, collects personal data unlawfully, or breaches the acceptable use policies of the hosting or payment providers involved. We may decline or stop work (with a refund for work not done) if we reasonably believe an App breaks this section.
20. Suspension and ending the contract
20.1 We may suspend or end the Services immediately by email if you seriously breach these terms (including section 19), don't pay, or act abusively towards our team. Section 10.2 applies to any refund.
20.2 You may end a one-off order early by telling us. Your cancellation rights in section 11 apply if you're a consumer. Otherwise, we'll refund any amount for work not yet done.
20.3 Sections 6.3, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 23 continue after the contract ends.
21. Complaints
If you're unhappy, email [Contact email]. We aim to reply within [2 business days] and resolve complaints within 14 days.
22. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when you place an order applies to that order. For Keep-Live, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice of material changes, and you can cancel before they take effect.
23. General
23.1 Entire agreement. These terms, your order confirmation and the plan description on our website at the time of your order are the whole agreement between us for business customers.
23.2 Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation and will tell you if we do. Your rights won't be reduced. You may transfer yours only with our written consent.
23.3 Third parties. No one else has any rights to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
23.4 Severability. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
23.5 No waiver. If we delay enforcing these terms, we can still enforce them later.
23.6 Law and courts. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Business customers agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you're a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and nothing here removes protections given by the consumer law of where you live.
